TMO Researchers Begin AOW Diver Training
As a proactive measure to counterpoise the possible challenges and difficulties of diving while doing research in the pristine and delicate Tubbataha Reefs, the Tubbataha Management Office enrolled its researchers and marine park rangers in the Advanced Open Water (AOW) Diver Training on 18-20 November 2014.
The training helped the research team improve their skills on controlling buoyancy and position relative to the reef, dealing with the effects of diving through different depths, and keeping oriented while navigating underwater.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources provides the majority of the funds for the said capacity building activity.
