Seven fishers nabbed in Tubbataha
Seven local fishermen from Puerto Princesa City were arrested in Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park for illegally entering the park on board fishing boat, F/B Joymar A, on 8 November 2015.
Tubbataha marine park rangers found more or less 200 kilos of tuna on board the fishing boat, which was owned by a certain Glenn Ariniola and skippered by Adrian Milan Friginal, both are residents of Bgy. Bagong Sikat, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The 9.30-gross ton fishing boat was said to be sailing from Zamboanga to Puerto Princesa when the team of marine park rangers intercepted it in the North Atoll, in the vicinity of the grounding site of the Chinese fishing vessel, Min Ping Yu.
Today, the Philippine Navy is sending its vessel to escort the apprehended fishermen to Puerto Princesa City for the filing of appropriate cases.
The seven fishermen will be facing charges for the violation Section 19 (Unauthorized Entry) and Section 26 (Hunting, Catching, Fishing…Resources) of RA 10067 or the Tubbataha Act of 2009.
